About the Design

• What is the cut of the sport coats?

PatrickMoor sport coats are designed to combine comfort with style. They have a relaxed fit, which means the sides are cut straight rather than being narrowed at the waist. Also, they have no seam at the front. There are two large patch pockets at the bottom but no top pocket. It is a design that has remained stylish for over 100 years.

• Are the sport coats lined?

They are fully lined. We use rich colours for the lining, complementing the silk fabric.(see the example on the "Style" page) While no-one else sees the lining, you will know how it enhances the style.

We have also specifically sourced buttons (mostly wood) for PatrickMoor sport coats.

About the measurements

• Is it difficult to provide the measurements?

It is a great feature of PatrickMoor that your sport coat can be custom made but that can only be done by getting specific measurements. On the Sizing page there are very clear diagrams showing how to make the measurements. We suggest you use a sport coat you already have- the one that fits you best.

You need to lie your sport coat as flat and smooth as possible when making the measurements. Do them a couple of times to make sure they are as accurate as possible. The measurements for your waist and hips can simply be taken by using a tape measure around your hips and waist. It's best to get someone to help you with this.

When you do your measurements for a second time you may get a slight variation (because it is difficult to get your sport coat totally flat). However, the variation should not be great (for example, half a centimetre). This minor variation will not cause a problem because of the relaxed design.

• Are alterations possible?

The sport coats are tailored to leave some room for alterations on the length of the body and the sleeves. Should any minor change be needed this can easily be done by your local "alterations" shop.

About the fabric

• What is special about handwoven silk?

The beauty of handwoven silk is that the fabric is unique. While manufactured fabric is "perfect" because of the mechanical process it has been through, handwoven silk is made by humans and has rich textures that show the character and spirit of the weavers.

It is not an exaggeration to say that each length of PatrickMoor silk is a unique work of art.

The silk is beautifully soft but is really rich in its texture. Silk also has layers of protein that make it lustrous and smooth. While it is lightweight it is extraordinarily strong.

If you click on the photographs on the "Fabric" page you will get a lifelike image of the actual silk.

• How should the fabric be cared for?

PatrickMoor sport coats should be Dry Cleaned Only. While they are strong care needs to be taken with the threads.

As an indication of the strength of handwoven silk it is not unusual for the fabric to last more than a century.

• How do the fabrics differ from each other?

If you look at the enlarged images on the "Fabrics" page you will see that some fabrics have a relatively tight weave (eg River Sand) while others have a looser weave (eg Driftwood and Misty Sky).

The looser weave fabrics result in light weight sport coats. The tighter weave fabrics become slightly heavier sport coats but can still be worn in any season.

• Will other fabrics be available?

New designs from the United States are released twice each year. As a result there will be regular additions to the PatrickMoor range.

About shipping

• How secure will the shipping be?

First of all, the shipping is FREE. You pay no extra for the delivery of your PatrickMoor sport coat.

We have selected EMS as our courier. The main reason for this is that EMS is associated with Post Offices. They provide a door to door delivery service but if you are unable to receive your purchase when it is delivered to your address it will be available, at your convenience, at your nearest post office.

With EMS you will sign for the delivery of your sport coat. It will not just be left on your doorstep.

On the day that your sport coat is shipped you will receive an email providing you with details, including tracking information that will enable you to know exactly when your purchase will arrive.

• How long will it take to deliver my sport coat?

On the day you place your order we will email you advice on the approximate delivery time. If the fabric is in stock, delivery should be less than two weeks from the date of your order. If the fabric is in the process of being woven, the delivery time should be within 3- 6 weeks. If the fabric needs to be ordered the delivery time will be approximately 6 weeks.
